Early life
José Antonio Domínguez Bandera was born on 10 August 1960 in Málaga, Spain. His parents were Civil Guard Gendarme officer José Domínguez Prieto (1920–2008) and school teacher Ana Bandera Gallego (1933–2017). His family welcomed him and his younger brother Francisco when they were young. The young Banderas dreamed of playing professional football. Fate dashed his athletic dreams, with a broken leg at the age of 15. Despite this setback, Banderas became passionate about the performing arts.
